Came and appeared Georges F. Gibsone of the said city of Quebec, advocate acting for the purposes hereof and for in the name of as the attorney of Henri Menier of Paris, manufacturer who bought to me, the said notary a certain instrument of writing or agreement of sale by John Ellison of the place called Salmon River, on the Island of Anticosti in the presence of witnesses on the 10 august instant, 1899, authenticated ty the affidavit hetero annexed of one of the said witnesses made before Alfred Malouin, a justice of the peace.
Which sais agreement is written upon two pages of fallscap paper commencing at the top of the first page with the words agreement made... and ending...
The signatures of the parties to the said agreement and the signatures of the witnesses followed by the affidavit herein above referred to, and to which agreement is annexed a certificate under the seal of Lt Governeur de la province de Québec at this thing that the said Alfred Malouin, is a justice of the peace duly qualified to act as such, and the said G.F. Gibsone, having certified to me the validity of the said instrumentis writing rrequested me the said notary to deposit same of record amount my original minute for the preservation thereof and in order that copies thereof may be granted and required and the deposit is accordingly made, the said agreement here to be annexes Mak «A» and signed by the said appearers and by the said notary for identification.

Agreement made this 10th of August 1899, between Mr. Henri Menier, the proprietor of the island of Anticosti and John Ellison of the place called Salmon River, on the said Island, Fisherman.
Seeing that the said Mr. Menier is the owner of the said Island, and that the said John Ellison is a squatter upon the same and has made certain provements thereupon,
And seeing that the said Mr. Menier, without admitting in a legal right to the said Ellison, desires to purchase on him, all constructions, improvements and claims which the said Ellison may have.
Now, at the present witness, that for and in construction of the sum of 60 dollars paid upon execution hereof, the said Ellison, conveys and transfers to Mr. Menier aforeside all his claims and rights in and upon the island of Anticosti and consisting chiefly as follows: one house, and one store situated at Salmon River aforesaid, and about ten acres of clear land and that near Salmon River to purchase clear land of regular shape of one of which... and the one about onehalf mile east of the said river...
It is agreed that the said house, has been paid for at the sum of 10 dollars, and the said ten acres of land, at the 5 dollars per acre, for clearing the said Ellison acknowledging has not and never had a title to the said land of the Salmon River, and to any land in the island of Anticosti

1 - que personnellement j'étais présenet lorsque l'acte ci-haut a été signé et j'ai vu signer le didt acte par John Ellison et par Georges Gibsone et par le témoin Luc Pelletier;
2 - J'ai vu au dit John Ellison, la somme de 60 piastres et j'ai signé, assermenté devant moi, at Salmon River...
